Sony is another Japanese company that has seen phenomenal success in the past with it's Playstation consoles. However it hasn't had the same kind of success with it's current console the Playstation 3, launching later and costing much more than Microsoft and Nintendo's consoles. Following the break out hit of Nintendo's Wii and its motion based controls, Sony is jumping on the bandwagon with it's own motion controller.

The Move
This was Sony's main announcement, concrete release details for it's motion controller The Move. The Move consists of a controller with a coloured ball on the end which is tracked by the Playstation Eye, a camera, and a sub controller/navigation controller with additional buttons. The controller will go on sale on September 15 in Europe/PAL territories and September 19 in North America. The Move controller itself will retail for €39.99 and $49.99USD, while the Navigation Controller will retail for €29.99 and $29.99USD. Additionally consumers will need to purchase the required Playstation Eye camera, which retails for $40USD. Sony will also release a bundle consisting of the Move motion controller, PlayStation Eye camera, Sports Champions game and PlayStation Move demo disc for $99.99USD. So all up the system will cost $130USD, if you include the Navigation controller. That's pretty expensive for what amounts to a slightly better Wii controller, especially when Microsoft's Kinect is rumoured to be $150. A charging station for the controller and a shooting attachment will also be available for $30USD and $20USD respectively.

Differing from Microsoft's presentation of the Kinect, the Move will launch with support for many titles enthusiast gamers love. Such as Heavy Rain, Killzone 3 and Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition. According to Sony the Move will launch with more than 15 titles, with many more to come.
