Bandai Entertainment Acquisitions.

Held on the weekend, the Otakon convention saw Bandai Entertainment announce two new titles: The Girl Who Leapt Through Space, and My Otome 0~S.ifr~. The Girl Who Leapt Through Space is a 26 episode series from Sunrise, while My Otome 0~S.ifr~ is an OVA prequel to the My Otome tv series. The company also revealed it's intentions to dub K-ON! into English, with the dub being produced by Bang Zoom Entertainment. The music based anime will be simultaneously released on DVD and Blu-Ray....

Funimation Licensing Blitz Redux.

Funimation Launches Prepaid Card.

Funimation, a North American distributor and co-producer of anime, has announced it will launch a Prepaid Visa Card. The program is aimed at younger anime fans (13-17), who don't have access to online payment options. Parents will be able to purchase the card, and add money to it at their own discretion. Discotek Media Adds Titles.

Discotek Media, a North American distributor of anime and live action films, has licensed the Galaxy Express 999 movie, the Adieu Galaxy Express 999 movie, and the original Project AKO movie. Both Galaxy Express movies have previously been released in North America, as has the Project AKO movie. None of the titles are recent creations, with Galaxy Express 999 dating from 1979, Adieu Galaxy Express 999 from 1981 and Project AKO from 1986

Dai Sato Voices Concerns on the Anime Industry.

Otaku2.com has posted a summary of a round table discussion with Dai Sato, writer of Eureka Seven and Ergo Proxy. In the discussion, called Cultural Typhoon held at Komazawa University, Sato voiced a number of concerns about the anime industry and allegedly predicted it may die out in a few decades. CrunchyRoll Adds Mitsudomoe.

CrunchyRoll, an anime streaming website, has added Mitsudomoe to it's list of Simulcasts this season. The first three episodes have already aired in Japan and will be available when episode 4 launches today. The series follows CrunchyRoll's regular scheme of providing episodes to subscribers first, then to everyone else a week later. Bandai Entertainment License Announcements.

Bandai Entertainment has announced via Twitter and it's San Diego Comic-Con panel it's acquisition of Tales of the Abyss and Turn A Gundum. Tales of the Abyss is a fantasy series based on the long running Tales video game franchise. While Turn A Gundum is the last Gundum series to be directed by the creator of the Gundum universe, Yoshiyuki Tomino.

Sentai Filmworks Adds Two Titles.

Sentai Filmworks has acquired KimiKiss Pure Rouge and Canaan. KimiKiss, a romantic drama, will be released as two sub only DVD collections with the first up for sale on the 5th October. Canaan, an action series, will be released as a complete collection with a dub, on both Blu-Ray and DVD, on the 26th of October.
